Southewest Agreement

Introduction

The 4th District Southwest Regional Agreement is a collective bargaining agreement established between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Unions and various chapters of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). This agreement is in place to standardize and regulate the terms and conditions of employment within the jurisdiction of the participating Local Unions, including IBEW Local 212.

Labor Management Cooperative Committee

A Labor Management Committee is established to handle grievances and disputes. This committee consists of representatives from both the union and the employers and is responsible for resolving issues through majority vote and, if necessary, referring unresolved matters to the Council on Industrial Relations.

Effective Date and Term

The 4th District Southwest Regional Agreement took effect on January 1, 2023. The agreement will continue in effect from year to year thereafter, from January through December of each year, unless changed or terminated in the way provided within the agreement.

Fringe Benefits

Employees are entitled to various fringe benefits, including:

National Electrical Benefit Fund (NEBF)

National Electrical Annuity Plan (NEAP)

Health & Welfare – Family Medical Care Plan

Hours of Work and Overtime

Standard work hours are set from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch break. 

Apprenticeship Program

The agreement includes access to the IBEW Local 212 apprenticeship program to ensure a continuous supply of skilled labor. CE/CW’s may make application to the apprenticeship program. The program emphasizes rigorous training and education to maintain high industry standards.

Safety and Working Conditions

The agreement emphasizes the importance of training and safety. Employers are encouraged to provide safety equipment and adhere to standards established by the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA). Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for advancing and training employees through documented experience and practical exams .
