A quick guide to the Inside Agreement

how it works

1

Contact Duration

The IBEW Local 212 Inside Agreement specifies the effective dates and the overall duration of the contract along with the basic tenents of the agreement.

Here are some key points:

Effective Period: The agreement takes effect from June 3, 2019, and remains valid through June 1, 2025.

Renewal: After the initial term, the agreement automatically renews each year from June 1 to May 31 unless either party provides written notice of termination or changes at least 90 days before the expiration date.

Questions: Contact the Union Hall at 513-559-0200 with any questions or concerns.

2

Negotiation Process

The negotiation process is a critical aspect of maintaining a fair and effective agreement between the union and employers. It involves:

Notification: Either party wishing to propose changes must notify the other at least 90 days before the contract’s expiration or any annual renewal date.

Negotiation Meetings: Upon notification, both parties meet to discuss proposed changes. These meetings continue regularly until an agreement is reached.

Council on Industrial Relations (CIR): If unresolved issues persist, they may be submitted to the CIR for adjudication. The CIR’s decisions are final and binding, ensuring that negotiations do not disrupt work.

3

Contract Maintenance

Maintaining the contract’s terms and conditions throughout its duration involves several ongoing activities:

Grievance Resolution: A Labor Management Committee, consisting of representatives from both the union and employers, meets regularly to address and resolve grievances. This ensures continuous harmony and adherence to the contract terms.

Labor Management Committee: This committee handles any disputes that cannot be resolved at lower levels. They ensure all issues are settled promptly and fairly, keeping the work environment stable.

Updates and Amendments: The agreement can be updated or amended with mutual consent at any time. These changes are documented in writing and submitted for approval to the International Office of the IBEW.
